1. Overview & Our Core Philosophy

This Privacy Policy applies to the PageWise Android application (package name: com.pagewise.read), developed by Betterday.

Our philosophy is straightforward: you should be able to read book summaries and listen to audiobooks privately without being tracked, profiled, or forced to create an account. PageWise is engineered as a local-first Android application designed for speed, privacy, and full offline accessibility.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

PageWise operates entirely on your local device. We explicitly confirm that:

  • We do NOT require user account creation or login (no email, name, or phone number collected).
  • We do NOT track your book search queries, read titles, or audiobook playback history.
  • We do NOT collect location data, device identifiers (IMEI/Android ID), or contact lists.
  • We do NOT use third-party analytics SDKs to track user interactions.

3. How Local Data Storage Works

Any settings or personal choices you make within PageWise — such as saved bookmarks, reading streaks, font preferences, or offline downloaded audio summaries — are stored strictly on your local device storage (Android SharedPreferences and local database).

This data never leaves your device and is erased automatically if you clear the application data or uninstall PageWise from your device.

4. Audiobook Playback & Media Permissions

PageWise includes a built-in audio player for listening to audiobook summaries on the go. The application uses standard Android foreground service permissions strictly to maintain audio playback when your screen is locked or when using other applications.

The audio player does not transmit listening behavior or telemetry to external servers.

5. No Ads & No Subscriptions

PageWise is 100% free to use. The app contains zero ad networks (no Google AdMob or third-party ad scripts) and zero in-app purchase trackers or subscription paywalls. There are no tracking cookies or behavioral advertising frameworks built into PageWise.

6. Children's Privacy

Because PageWise does not collect any personal data or require account registrations, the application is safe for users of all ages, including children. We comply fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google Play Families policy requirements.

7. Security & Data Control

Since all data remains stored locally on your Android device, security is governed by your device's operating system security. You retain 100% control over your data at all times. You can remove all stored app data at any time by navigating to Settings > Apps > PageWise > Storage > Clear Data on your device.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new features or regulatory requirements. Any updates will be published on this page with a revised effective date.
